The Lion The lion (Panthera leo) is an enormous well evolved creature of the Felidae (feline) family. Some huge guys weigh more than 250 kg (550 lb).[3] Today, wild lions live in sub-Saharan Africa and in Asia.[4] Lions are adjusted for life in meadows and blended zones in with trees and grass. The generally little females are quick sprinters over brief distances, and arrange their chasing of crowd creatures. African lions have been appreciated since forever for as images of fortitude and strength. These notable creatures have amazing bodies—in the feline family, they're second in size just to tigers—and thunders that can be heard from five miles away. A grown-up lion's jacket is yellow-gold, and adolescents have some light spots that vanish with age. Just male lions ordinarily gloat manes, the amazing edge of long hair that surrounds their heads.
